 Information Defense Systems is a service connected disabled Veteran owned small business.
Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) The term "small business concern owned and controlled by service-disabled veterans" shall mean a small business concern which is at least 51 percent owned by one or more service-disabled veterans; or, in the case of any publicly owned business, at least 51 percent of the stock of which is owned by one or more service-disabled veterans; and, whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more service-disabled veterans or, in the case of a veteran with permanent and severe disability, the spouse or permanent care-giver of such veteran.
The Veterans Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Act of 1999
The VETERANS ENTREPRENEURSHIP and SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ACT of 1999 (Public Law 106-50) established an annual Government-wide goal of not less than 3 percent of the total value of all prime contract and subcontract awards for participation by small business concerns owned and controlled by service-disabled veterans. It did not contain a provision to restrict or "set-aside" contracting opportunities for service-disabled veterans.
Veterans Benefits Act of 2003
The VETERANS BENEFITS ACT (VBA) of 2003 (PL 108-183) added, in addition to other provisions, a contracting mechanism to enable agencies to reach the 3% prime contracting goal established in 1999. Section 308 of the VBA of 2003 established a sole source and set-aside procurement program for service-disabled veteran-owned small business concerns (SDVOSB).

Executive Order (EO) 13360
On October 20th, 2004, the President signed Executive Order 13360 calling for an increase federal contracting and subcontracting opportunities for service-disabled veteran businesses. On December 12th, 2004, the Executive Office of the President issued a memorandum to all Federal agencies on the implementation of the Executive Order. This memorandum provides guidance to assist agencies in preparing their strategies to implement the Order.
Among other things, the Order requires each agency to: develop a strategy to significantly increase its contracting and subcontracting with small businesses owned and controlled by service-disabled veterans; designate a senior-level official to be responsible for developing and implementing the agency's strategy; and report its progress annually to the Small Business Administration (SBA). |
